Set sail for 2021 - Exciting changes and a new team member

Guten Tag and hello to you and every member of the XCHC community.

Firstly, a little bit about my background:

My name is Ingmar Wein. Even though my first name suggests a norwegian background I’m born and grew up in a small countryside village in the Black Forest in Germany. Picking up a camera whilst studying Computer Science influenced my life in a new and unexpected way. Exploring the world through a viewfinder opened up many opportunities for me, with travels to many exciting and beautiful places. Landscape photography is a big passion of mine, but so are events, especially anything around the world of musicians and festivals.

My attitude towards life is a lifestyle of the unknown.I try to be as spontaneous and open minded towards new ideas as possible. That mindset got challenged during the covid-19 lockdown earlier this year. The starting point of my New Zealand adventure was the second week of February – only a few weeks before the country went into a full lockdown. Flying home did not really feel like an option, so I decided to fully embrace the unknown world ahead. Fast forward a few months down the road Preston introduced me to the concept of the XCHC – and here we go.

The Patreon Plan

The original idea of the content creation position for the XCHC was the main benefit for the Patreon member family. That’s going to stay that way. However, Preston and I have discussed many different models and ideas for the content creation position. We came to the conclusion that the messages that we want to put out into the online world should help the XCHC in three ways: With fully booked makerspace, a vibrant daytime community, and well attended events. This environment will guarantee we are living up to our purpose of Cultivating a Creative Ecology.

We strongly believe that we can reach our goals through the power of social media. These three key factors allow the XCHC to operate on the current level – as an institution for creative development in Christchurch. Your patreon subscription helps us support and reveal the creative talent in Christchurch by working directly with the artists/creative community, not chasing funding and writing applications. This independence is unique and is needed for us to continue growing.

We therefore see your support on Patreon as a highly valued investment.

Preston and I are planning on changing the approach with Patreon for the future. Our goal is to create content for you across all of our social media platforms. We would also like to create higher quality opportunities for our Patreon community; closing the gap between the XCHC and you – our subscribers. What does that mean?

How you’re subscription helps us.

As a Patreon member, you’ve helped us to survive COVID-19 and achieve many goals since 2019. Now, we’re taking things a step further. We would like to invite you to engage with us and shape the future of XCHC.

Thank you for that, thank you for being here.

I am looking forward to becoming one of these engagement/contact points with Preston. Equally I am looking forward for seeing every single one of you whether it may be through your messages, comments, feedback and likes on social media and Patreon or in real life.

If you see me working or creating images at the XCHC come and say hello, I’d love to hear your stories and your feedback.

Rock on,

Ingmar
